Have you heard of Pam England? How about her amazing book Birthing From Within? This is a fantastic resource for birthing families. The tone of her work is so positive and supportive. All families, no matter what their specific birth plans, are invited to ask deeper and deeper questions about what they need in order to give birth. So much of the language we use around birth encourages binary thinking and, oftentimes, disappointment. 'Are you having a natural birth?' If the answer is no, does that mean you'll be having an 'unnatural' birth? Nobody wants to be called or thought 'unnatural' as they begin life with their baby. We are creatures of language and these subtleties can really be hurtful and limiting. Read Birthing From Within to help broaden and strengthen your vision of your birth.
So, in Pam England's latest blog post, she shares a little bit about the development of her next book 'Birth As A Hero's Journey.' This phrase makes my ears perk up - what an exciting lens through which to view the hard work of birthing and becoming a parent! Check it out here.
